(b) Includes four cases of overcrowding in Council houses.
(c) Relates to tenants who, by agreement, have been transferred
from large houses to houses more appropriate to their needs, thus
leaving available houses that could be let to large families on the
overcrowding schedule. Without this system the number of real
vacancies arising would be 59, and the number of overcrowding
cases relieved would also be reduced accordingly, as it is frequently
found that a real vacancy arising, i.e., the tenancy terminated
by a tenant, is not suitable for any case on our schedule, but by
redistribution a new case can be accommodated.
(d) This letting is included to agree with the number of actual
lettings shown in our register, and was entirely unsuitable for the
purpose of relieving overcrowding, etc.
Analysis of Cases on the Overcrowding Schedule.
(a) Number of cases on schedule at 1st January, 1938, in
310 dwellings and involving 2,373 persons 310
(b) New cases reported during the year ending 31st
December, 1938, involving 439 persons 70
