whole country, is shown in the table on the following page.
Births.—Births are dealt with under the Maternity and Child
Welfare Section of the Report.
Deaths.—The Registrar-General's classification of causes of
death by sex totals is given.
The total number of deaths in 1937 (1,443) compares with
1,321 during 1936, the respective death-rates per 1,000 population
being 10.9 and 9.8.
