The death-rate from Diarrhoea and Enteritis in children under
one year of age per 1,000 live births was 5.24.
4. CHILD WELFARE.
The new Scheme made by the Minister of Health under Section 93
of the Local Government Act, 1929, for the period 1937-42 increases
the grant from the County Apportionment to £3,800 per annum.
The previous grant for the preceding five-year period was £1,864.
The apportionment to Walthamstow is now the second highest in
the county.
The equivalent of whole-time Municipal Health Visitors is 6.5,
equal to one whole-time Health Visitor per 262 notified births,
and one whole-time Health Visitor per 272 registered births during
1936.
