Large-type bills have been posted in conspicuous places
in the town drawing attention to this Act, and to the advice
and help which may be given by the Chief Sanitary Inspector,
at the Public Health Offices.
Further, the Council have provided a cyano-gas foot
pump, and this has been used with a certain amount of
success along the River Ching. Its further use is contemplated
at selected open spaces, but the discretion in the use of
this gas makes its action limited, but of its efficacy there can
be no question.
The Sanatorium, Chingford.
Due to a settlement to some of the drains, considerable
evidence of the presence of rats was discerned at the
Sanatorium.
Baiting was freely resorted to—old baits removed and
replaced with new—until the cessation of these pests.
Finally, all runs were wired and cemented along the
various pipe lines, and there has been no further evidence of
rats. Much time and trouble was taken—as in all cases—but
this is more than saved in the long run by the destruction
of damaging pests.
