E.-INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD.
(Contributed by Chief Sanitary Inspector.)
(a) Slaughterhouses.
During the year the Council registered one additional
slaughterhouse. These premises were formerly stable
premises and were converted.
The walls were faced to a height of over six feet in
glazed tiling, steel joists and runways were fixed, windows
and doors renewed and altered to conform to modern
requirements.
The cost of conversion of these premises was approximately
£350, and they may now be considered as a small
model slaughterhouse.
The trade carried on is that of a small family butcher,
-and no market trade is done or anticipated.
At another slaughterhouse the trade increased to an
extent that the premises had to be closed until the owner
carried out extensive alterations costing about £850.
