The single notification of 1935 creates a new low record.
The average number of cases notified annually during the
previous nine years to 1936 was 8.5.
15. MATERNAL MORTALITY.
Corrections.— The second maternal death referred to at the
foot of page 102 in the report of 1934 should be excluded. The
death had been classified by the Registrar-General as being due
to Puerperal Sepsis on the grounds that the endometritis had
been associated with recent parturition, which was in fact incorrect.
This exclusion reduces the number of deaths due to Puerperal
Sepsis in 1934 from 7 to 6, and the total to 11.

The net result is to alter the maternal mortality rates for 1934 as follows :—
