B.—GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES
IN THE AREA.
(i) Public Health Officers of the Authority.—The names
and qualifications of officers employed by your Authority are given
at the beginning of the Report and also in the Maternity and Child
Welfare Section. All are whole-time officers unless otherwise stated.
(ii) Nursing in the Home.
(a) General.—No change since 1931.
(b) Infectious Diseases.—No change since 1931.
(iii) Laboratory Facilities.—These facilities are detailed under
the Infectious Diseases Section of the Report. There were no
changes in the arrangements from those in force during 1931.
(iv) Legislation in Force.
(a) The Walthamstow (Measles) Regulations, 1932, came into
operation on the 18th March, 1932. The effect of the Regulations
was to make notifiable all cases of Measles in children under five
years of age, excepting secondary cases occurring within two months.
Following notification all oases were visited by a Health Visitor or
School Nurse.
(b) Bvelaws made under the Nursing Homes Registration Aot,
1927.
(c) The Walthamstow Corporation Act, 1932 (received Royal
Assent on the 12th May, 1932) and regulates street trading within
the Borough.
(d) Byelaws with regard to New Streets and Buildings (made
by the Council on the 23rd March, 1932, allowed by the Ministry
of Health on the 25th August, 1932).
(e) Byelaw with regard to Fouling of Pavements by Dogs (made
by the Council on the 27th May, 1932).
(v) Hospitals.—There were no changes during 1932 in the
Hospital services used by the inhabitants of the Borough.
Public Assistance in Walthamstow is now provided by the SouthWest
Area Committee of the Essex County Council, which retains
a certain proportion of beds in each of the local institutions.

various institutions during the year ended 31st December, 1932:—
