The 1932 total deaths (1,348) compares with 1,403 during
1931, the respective death-rates per 1,000 population being 9.9
and 10.4.
The chief differences in the classification of deaths—those for
1931 being given in parentheses—were as follows:—
Whooping Cough, 3 (14); Diphtheria, 5 (11); Pulmonary
Tuberculosis, 87 (95); Non-Pulmonary Tuberculosis, 14 (13);
Cancer, 182 (176); Cerebral Hæmorhage, 79 (83); Heart Disease,
287 (313); Bronchitis, 63 (86); Nephritis, 48 (44); Congenital
Debility, etc., 49 (58); Suicide, 14 (31); Violence, 33 (40).
Infant deaths are analysed by causes, ages and wards under
the Maternity and Child Welfare Section of the Report.
