Summary of Services for Maternity and Child Welfare
provided by your council.
1. Ante-Natal Supervision.
(a) Weekly Ante-Natal Clinics.
(b) Consultative Ante-Natal Clinic (fortnightly).
(c) Home visits by Health Visitors.
(d) Difficult cases referred to London Hospitals.
(e) Provision of Milk and Food.
(f) Dental Treatment.
(g) Provision of Doctor's services at cost of Council in
necessitous and abnormal midwives' cases.
(h) Transport facilities.
2. Facilities during and after childbirth.
(а) Lying-in accommodation (see note a).
(b) Provision of accouchement outfits at cost price.
(c) Provision of home helps.
(d) Boarding out children during confinement.
(e) Provision of midwife in necessitous cases and scheme
for medical aid in abnormal cases (see note b).
(f) Provision of consultant obstetrician in difficult cases
(at any time during pregnancy, labour or puerperium).
(g) Provision of consultants for puerperal fever and pyrexia.
(h) Hospital treatment, bacteriological investigation and
home nursing for cases of puerperal fever and pyrexia.
(i) Home nursing or hospital treatment for cases of Ophthalmia
Neonatorum.
(j) Investigations into all cases of Maternal death, puerperal
fever and pyrexia, stillbirths, deaths of newlyborn
children.
(k) Provision of milk and food.
