Of the cases notified as Diphtheria, one proved to be a case of
Perforated Gastric Ulcer notified as Haemorrhagic Diphtheria, and
one a Glossal abscess. One case developed Acute Appendicitis during
convalescence. Three cases notified as Diphtheria proved, on
admission, to have both Diphtheria and Scarlet Fever.
Cross Infection.—38 cases were transferred from the Diphtheria
blocks to cubicle block—10 cases with Scarlatiniform rashes (2 confirmed
as Scarlet Fever), 5 cases with desquamation, 10 observation
cases, 4 Smallpox contact cases, 5 Chickenpox contact cases,
2 Measles contact cases, 2 with venereal complications.
Complications.—Cardiac Paralysis, 5; other types of
Paralysis, 15.
