CARE OF PREMATURE INFANTS. - Of the 1,928 live births
occurring in Ilford during 1961, 83 weighed 5½ lb. or less at birth, 11 of
these babies were born on the district, 71 in Hospital (including 12 where
the home address of the parents was outside Ilford), and one in a garage.
The last mentioned infant, found abandoned shortly after its birth, was
conveyed to hospital after resuscitation by the ambulance driver; the mother
was subsequently traced and it was ascertained that her home address was
outside Ilford.
