Of the above new cases, the following were notified from Institutions in the district:—

Of the 83 deaths which occurred of Ilford residents, notification had
previously been made of 72 of the cases. Of the other 11, 2 were notified
after death; 8 were not notified (9.6 per cent. of the deaths or a ratio of 1 in
10). Of the 8 not notified (previously referred to) in 5 instances the presence
of tuberculosis was discovered following P.M. ; in one instance the
presence of tuberculosis was found at an operation; in 2 instances the
notification was overlooked. One other death included by the RegistrarGeneral
I have not been able to trace.

Cases of Tuberculosis, on notification, are visited by the Tuberculosis Nurse of the Essex County Council. 979 of the cases of longer standing were visited by the Sanitary Inspectors during the year, a visit being made to each patient every six months. The following reports were obtained:—
