I inspected and certified under the 26th Section of the Customs and Inland Revenue Act as to the sanitary condition, etc., of these buildings, consisting of 2 Blocks, viz., Holland Buildings, Nos. 1 to 10 and 11 to 19, and 4 Shops, Thurston Buildings, Nos. 1 to 38, which were opened in 1885.

The number of inhabitants was as follows:—
Holland Buildings — 58 adults, 24 children above and 15
under 5 years of age.
Thurston Buildings—60 adults, 35 children above and 27
under 5 years.
There were 10 births (5 in Holland and 5 in Thurston),
corresponding to a birth-rate of 457 per 1,000.
8 deaths were recorded, 2 of which occurred in public
hospitals, equal to a death-rate of 36'5 per 1,000.
5 of the deaths were children under 2 were from
zymotic diseases, whooping-cough and diarrhoea.
