This Board have no power of appeal against, or control over, these
amounts.
Watering the Streets.
The District was efficiently watered, under contract from the 1st
day of March to the 1st day of October, 1873, at the cost (including
the repair of stand-posts and pipes, amounting to £63 4s. 1d.)

The water used for such purpose was 3,777,000
gallons, at a cost of 1s. per 1,000 gallons,
amounting to, (including meter hire) 199 6 0
Making a total expenditure of £1,27710 1
Cleansing the Streets.
There have been 31 Street Orderlies in the constant employ of the
Board during the year, at a cost of £1,519 12 3
The cost of removing the slop and dirt under
contract was 1,594 18 0
