Hospital Liaison
One of our health visitors continues to participate
regularly at the mothercraft sessions held at Kingston Hospital.
Our group adviser continues to spend Tuesday mornings at
Kingston Hospital. She has discussions with the medical social
workers, the maternity unit ward sisters, and visits the expectant
mothers and the new mothers from the borough. The group adviser is
the link between the hospital and the health visitor, and reports
all the information received to the appropriate health visitor.
This has proved to be a very valuable exchange of information and
the health visitors are able to arrange to give extra support to the
mother who is experiencing difficulties, and the hospital are able
to receive first hand information on the patients' social background
and home conditions.
Mothers' Clubs
Two more mothers' clubs have been started during the year
and they are now available at all clinics and two church halls.
The mothers are extremely grateful for this service and benefit
considerably from being able to air and share their problems. The
programme is varied and includes discussions, usually led by the
health visitor, demonstrations, speakers, films and keep fit classes.
The children are cared for in another room by a clinic nurse.
