The tabulated statement overleaf gives details of the 103 samples
which were submitted during the year to the Public Analyst in
accordance with the provisions of the Food and Drugs Act, 1955 and the
labelling of Food Order and other relevant Orders and Regulations.
Six samples were the subject of adverse comment and three of
these related to contraventions of the Labelling of Food Order,, In all
Cases new or amended labels were produced.
The sample of shrimps was contaminated with a number of tiny
black carbonaceous particles. Three of the shrimps had developed a
circular area of discoloration caused by a dark colour diffusing out
from a particle in the centre. This appeared to be an isolated case
as follow-up samples proved to be without blemish.
