1n as many cases as possible where combined drains
have to be reconstructed, plans and detailed specifications
are prepared on behalf of the several owners free of cost.
By undertaking such work it is possible to assure the use
of good quality materials and to maintain more complete
control over the workmanship throughout. The respective
owners give instructions direct to their selected contractors
and are responsible for the costs incu'rred.
The discontinuance of cesspools in the Park Road area
was continued, and five houses were connected to the public
sewer. The old cesspools were filled in and abolished. 1t
is expected that this particular area will be freed from
cesspools during the present year, with the possible exception
of one or two premises which cannot be connected
to the sewer owing to the levels.
