are given at an interval of one week and the third a fortnight
later. A posterior Schick Test is done after three
months, and if the child is immune, a certificate to that
effect is issued.
A summary of the work during 1936 is as follows:—

Number of Certificates issued 428
Of the 438 cases Schick tested, 77 were found to be
immune. There were only 12 cases still positive on re—test
after treatment and these received two further injections
of T.A.M.
The 150 boys in the Dalziel of Wooler Memorial Home
(Dr. Barnardo's) are all immunized against diphtheria by
their own medical officer.
ENTERIC FEVER.
Six cases of enteric fever were notified du'ring the year.
Three were notified from the Kingston and District
Hospital among patients admitted from outside the Borough.
The three cases resident in the Borough were notified
on May 4th, July 21st and Septembe'r 15th respectively,
and the first two were sent into the Wimbledon 1solation
Hospital and the third to the Kingston and District Hospital.
They were isolated cases and though extensive investigations
were made in each case, no source of infection was
traced.
There were no deaths.

The number of cases notified was 32, compared with
21 and 34 for the last two years.
