SUMMARY OF SANITARY IMPROVEMENTS.
When one observes the large amount of sanitary work
carried out in connection with premises in the Borough it
will be realised that the cost involved must be a very considerable
sum per annum. The lists given refer only to
works which arise from inspections and form only part of
the total repair works to dwelling houses. Owners of
property are, therefore, helping very considerably to relieve
unemployment, not only in the building trades directly, but
also in the manufacture of building materials.
A point often lost sight of is that most of the works
which are carried out after service of notices are supervised
by your Council without cost to the owners of the property
concerned. This is of very considerable assistance to
owners and not only ensures that the work is properly
done but often enables economies to be effected without
reducing efficiency.
Under the various headings shown, the details of sanitary
and other works carried out as the result of notices
served will be found in the following tabulated lists.
