Report
of the School Medical Officer.
March, 1929.
To the Chairman and Members of the Education Committee
of the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-
Thames.
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to present my Annual Report for the
year 1928.
The average number of children on the school register
for the year was 4,552.
Medical Inspection was carried out on the same lines
as before, and no objection to medical examination of a
child was received from any parent.
Three half-days a week were devoted to Dental work
until the end of February, when an additional session per
week was sanctioned. The gradual extension of Dental
Supervision and Treatment to the whole of the School population
will necessitate periodically an increase in the number
of sessions per week.
The scheme for orthopædic treatment of Crippled
Children worked satisfactorily, but the contributions received
from parents towards the cost of this treatment showed a
comparative decrease.
The Eye Clinic was held on Wednesday afternoons
during the School terms, 20 meetings in all being necessary
during the year.
The Scheme for the operative treatment of tonsils and
adenoids at the Kingston Victoria Hospital worked satisfactorily,
35 children receiving treatment under this Scheme.
