a further period of residence until the infant is three months

The infant is then placed with a foster mother, and the
parent is found a suitable situation in domestic service.
Puerperal Fever.
Four cases were notified during the year, all between
May 20th and June 10th, and occurred in connection with
the maternity work of the Kingston Nursing Association.
Three of these cases died, and also two infants who were
infected.
The Nursing Home of the Kingston Nursing Association
was closed and maternity work discontinued.
It was felt that the District Nurses (other than maternity)
employed by the Kingston Nursing Association for
nursing the poor were essential, and that continuity of this
service must be maintained.
A meeting of the doctors of Kingston was called, and
due to their efforts funds were raised to ensure that the
district nursing might continue during the formation of a
new Committee of the Association and necessary reorganisation.
This was eminently successful, and the district nursing
has been carried on, but no further maternity work had been
undertaken by the Association by the end of the year.
A Special Report, as set below, was completed on July
1st, and forwarded to the Ministry of Health.

Hospital. She died on June 2nd.
