(1) Number of dwelling houses In respect of which Demolition Orders
were made

(1) Number of separate tenements or underground rooms In respect
of which Closing Orders were made –

LEGAL PROCEEDINGS
It was necessary to prosecute landlords In 20 Instances for failure to comply with statutory abatement
notices. In 15 cases the work was carried out and the summons withdrawn on payment of costs. In 4 cases
Orders were made for 28 days. In one case a fine of £3. was imposed and In another a fine of £2. In 1
case an Order was made for 66 days, and costs.
One street trader was prosecuted for dellverlng toys to children under 14 years, whilst engaged In
collecting rags. A fine of £3. was Imposed.
INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF POOD SUPPLIES AND PREMISES
(A) Hie number of Milk Distributors registered at the close of the year was 167, and the two large
dairies, London Co-operative Society Limited and Mortlocks Modern Dairies Limited, continued to function
satisfactorily.

Designation) Regulations 1949-64:

(B) Meat Inspections
the three licensed slaughterhouses in the Borough continued to operate and the following table shows
the number of animals killed and examined:

There were 85 butchers shops in the town (Including 3 continental and 3 kosher butchers) and these
premises were Inspected with regard to general hygienic conditions and stock carried.
Meat condemned as unfit for human consumption.
