Two of our midwives are approved by the Central Midwives Board as Midwife Teachers (in possession
or the required diploma) and the pupils carry out the whole or their Part II training on the district
In East Ham, covering a period or six months.
In both years gas and air analgesia was administered on 195 occasions and pethidine in about hair
the cases.
The work or our mldwlves is especially noteworthy as cars are not provided by the Council, but some
assistance Is arrorded In the transport or the analgesic apparatus when this can be arranged. To date
no dirricultles or delays have been experienced at the 'bridges" In the south or the borough.
The mldwlves and pupils also attend at special ante-natal clinic sessions to give the necessary care
to their expectant mothers.
