The numbers of new cases of tuberculosis notified during the year 1956 were as follows:-

x Of the 15 cases of Acute Poliomyelitis, 11 were paralytic and 4 non-paralytlc.
Following the despatch of the quarterly returns to the Registrar General, the diagnosis was
changed for two cases of Food Poisoning In the Quarter ending 31/3/57 and for one case In the
quarter ending 30/6/57. The true total of Food Poisoning cases for the year therefore Is 13.
There were no deaths from the seven principal Zymotic diseases (Smallpox, Whooping Cough,
Measles, Diphtheria, Diarrhoea, Scarlet Fever and Enteric Fever.)
