PARK VIEW THERAPEUTIC CLUB
The purpose of this club has already been adumbrated in previous reports It suffices
here to say referral of members is still practised by the Runwell Hospital medical staff
and the constitution and conduct of the club remains unaltered The Mayor the Chairman
and the Health Committee and other interested Councillors all give their generous support
and the staff of the mental health department are unstinting in their devotion to this
difficult and time consuming social work
It must be emphasized' the members themselves run the club and the canalization of
of their energies along social lines is in itself therapeutic in the long and difficult
process of rehabilitation within the community Mr Steadman the petitions officer in
the mental health department undoubtedly has a flair for cementing the rather loose knit
structure of the club and his energy geniality and gentle personality combine to
strengthen and support the members in their social efforts He is ably backed up by all
the Duly Authorised Officers whose zeal and sense of vocation is often commented on both
by the persons and families they help and the general practitioners who value their
services most highly in the manifold problems of dealing with mental illness
