MASS RADIOGRAPHY
The Mass Radiography Unit (No 6B) again visited East Ham and conducted a public
survey from 6th September to 10th October 1955, The Unit was accommodated in the
Minor Hall of the Town Hall and a total of 10, 121 persons attended for examination.

The following is an extract from the report by the Units Medical Director, Dr. Lawless, on this survey

From the above tables it will be seen that of the total of 10,121 persons
examined 102 showed evidence of pulmonary tuberculosis: 18 of this number
were found to have active disease at the time of examination i.e. 9 males and
9 females The combined rate for active tuberculosis discovered was 1. 78 per
1,000 examinees The rate for males was 1. 98 and for females 1. 61 These figures
compare favourably with our findings in other areas,"
