It is hoped that in 1952 the full and reconstituted team will perform
an even more valuable function in the treatment of children's problems and
hence serve to prevent much emotional disturbance and even mental illness
in later life,
Speech Therapy Clinic
This Clinic continues to be housed in the old Shrewsbury Road schools,
thus ensuring close co-operation between Speech Therapist and the staff of
the Child Guidance Clinic - so essential when treating a disability which
often has its roots in emotional disturbance.
In September Miss P.N, Glover commenced a years' leave of absence,
granted to enable her to study methods in Canada, Miss E. Westley was

appointed temporarily to carry on the worK or the clinic.

Ophthalmic Clinic.
I regret to report that the need for an orthoptic service has not yet
been met. Negotiations with the Regional Hospital Board, like those concerning
the wider issues of the Specialist Clinics in general have proved
protracted.
Mr. R.A. Morris, Ophthalmic Surgeon, attends at the Town Hall Annexe
3 sessions per week.
