REGISTRATION OF NURSING HOilES.
Under Sections 187 to 194 of the Public Health Act, 1936, there were
no homes registered during the year 1951, and there were no homes on the
register at the end of the year 1551.
ALDERSBROOK MATERNITY HOSPITAL.
This unit continues as a great boon to the mothers of East Ham. The
maternity service provided is of a uniform high standard and the Matron,
Mrs. Steele, and the Deputy Matron, Miss Fuller, are to be complimented on
the golden opinions the hospital has won for the individual care and attention
bestowed on all mothers who come here for confinements.
If a woman must go into hospital for confinement, and there are many
who deprecate this policy, then at least she should be compensated for the
deprivation of having her loved ones around her at home, by a cheerful and
cosy environment, good food, every comfort and complete rest for body and
mind. It is believed that the staff at Aldersbrook do their utmost to
ensure that this end is attained and the proof of their success lies surely
in the number of women who seek to return to the unit for a second confinement..
