It will be noted that the incidence of Whooping Cough and
Measles sharply declined in the fourth quarter and that there were
more than double the notifications of Diphtheria in the last quarter,
in comparison with the totals for the first nine months of the year.
Zymotic Death Rate.
The deaths from the seven principal Zymotic diseases (Smallpox,
Whooping Cough, Measles, Diphtheria, Diarrhoea, Scarlet
Fever and Enteric Fever) during the year numbered 15.
NOTE.—Nine deaths occurred from Diarrhoea, 3 from
Diphtheria and 3 from Whooping Cough.
The death rate was 0.12 per 1,000 population, as compared
with a rate of 0.07 for 1946.
No cases of Smallpox were reported during the year under
review.
