East Ham Tuberculosis After-Care Committee.
During the year the voluntary Committee provided the
following items to patients:—
Clothing (30 patients) at a cost of £78 l1s. 0d.
Beds and bedding on loan to 6 patients.
Fares of relatives.
Christmas gifts of 10s. 0d. each to 100 patients.
Mrs. Rogers, Occupational Therapist, was in charge of this
department, and a new scheme was introduced whereby the
materials were sold to the patients and the finished articles became
their property—180 such purchases were made. £237 15s. 3d.
was the cost of the various handicraft materials purchased,
£227 13s. 8d. was received and the value of the stock in hand at the
end of the year was approximately £80.
The tuberculosis sufferers have benefited greatly by the
unselfish and beneficient work carried out by the Committee and
their honorary officials.
National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
Owing to the welfare work undertaken by the Education
Committee, the number of cases referred has considerably decreased.
The Society is always ready and willing, however, to carry out
tactful enquiries and assist in those cases where their help is
particularly indicated.
