Operative treatment for tonsils and adenoids is carried out during
two sessions weekly of up to eight cases per session.
The Children's Hospital, Balaam Street.
Upon the re-opening of the Children's Hospital during October,
a similar agreement was concluded, mainly for the operative treatment
of tonsils and adenoids which is performed by Mr. Savege, F.R.C.S.,
Consultant to the Aural Clinic.
163 children were admitted for such operation and spent 347
days in the hospital. One mastoidectomy was performed.
Other Hospitals.
Pending the negotiation of agreements with special and general
hospitals which will make provision for all forms of medical treatment,
children whose treatment cannot be undertaken satisfactorily at the
school clinics and cases in which the opinion of a specialist is required,
are referred to appropriate institutions.
Under arrangements which were in force before the 1944 Act came
into operation the following cases received treatment:—
(a) Tonsils and Adenoids.
