Infantile Mortality.
Deaths of infants under one year numbered 63—equivalent
to an infant mortality of 36 per thousand live births—compared
with a rate of 31 for Ihe previous year. The rate for England
and Wales was 46.
The number of deaths of illegitimate children was 4 out of a
total of 105 illegitimate births, giving a mortality rate of 38 as
compared with a figure of 48 per 1,000 illegitimate live births for
the year 1944-
