The Report of the Executive Committee for the year ending
March 31st, 1939, contains much information relative to Blind
Persons and the work of the Association. Preventive treatment
is of vital importance and no expense is spared; advice is
given to applicants, also assistance with fares to hospitals. The
Council put into operation on April 1st, 1939, a scheme for the
domiciliary assistance of blind Persons having regard to the
need of the blind person and that of sighted members of the
household. The Association appreciates the additional financial
benefits that have been granted to all blind persons under this
new scheme. Braille and Moon literature continue to be supplied
and Braille books are obtainable through the Borough Libraries.
Reference is made in the Report to the work of Miss Kingston,
the Home Teacher, especially in regard to the training of the
deaf blind.
