Bacteriology.
The course of sanatorium treatment is controlled to some
extent by the examination of sputa, which is done at least monthly;
in 1935, 808 specimens were examined. (1934, 31,5.)
The fortnightly visits of the Consultant during the latter part
of the year have been much appreciated.
The provision by the Tuberculosis After-care Committee of
garments and shoes to necessitous cases has been of material
benefit to several patients.
Entertainments provided by amateur dramatic societies during
the Winter months have been much enjoyed by patients and
staff, who have expressed their appreciation of these visits.
During the year, visitors have contributed, through the Sanatorium
collecting boxes, the sum of £7 8s. 11d. to the funds of
the Tuberculosis After-care Committee.
