Consultations at Homes of Patients:
During the year 148 visits to patients who were too ill to
attend the Clinic have been made to their own homes.
New cases are visited by Dr. Ellman, old cases being visited
by Dr. Crawford.
Co-operation with Specialised and General Hospitals:
There is a continuance of this co-operation, which has been
outlined in reports of previous years.
Acknowledgment is made of the help and courtesy received
from the Staffs of the various hospitals in the interests of the
Council's patients.
Close Co-operation of the work of the Sanatorium
and Clinic.
The co-operation between the work of the Clinic and Sanatorium,
recently established by the Medical Officer of Health,
is already proving its great value. Its potentialities for good are
self-evident.
The enormous advantage to be derived in the patient's
interests, from a close follow-up of cases originally seen and diagnosed
at the Clinic who are subsequently recommended for institutional
treatment at the Harts Sanatorium, and who are again
followed up, on their discharge at the Clinic, requires no emphasis.
The increased application of Thoracic Surgery in
Chest Diseases:
Previous reports have emphasised the increasing value of
thoracic surgery in the treatment of "selected" cases of pulmonary
tuberculosis and allied diseases. It is of vital importance that
close co-operation should exist between the Chest Physician and
Thoracic Surgeon in this valuable form of treatment.
