(f) Vision.
During the year 1935, the Ophthalmic Clinic was held on five
sessions per fortnight.
Four hundred and six cases were referred for treatment in
respect of visual defect during the year 1935 (of these 83 children
with markedly defective vision had not been seen by the Ophthalmis
Surgeon) and, including 43 cases awaiting treatment at the
termination of the year 1934, 366 cases have been treated in the
past year. There were 217 cases discovered during the year.
A Sight-saving Class at Monega Road School was opened by
the Education Committee in June, 1928, 19 children are in attendance
at this class, and they are all kept under observation by the
Ophthalmic Surgeon at intervals. (See also Ophthalmic Surgeon's

(g) Ear Disease.
During the year 1935, 83 Aural Clinic sessions were held.
The total attendances at the Aural Clinic was 1,788, making an
average attendance, at each session, of 22 patients. Ionisation
treatment was carried out in 17 cases, 56 applications being made.

(h) Dental Defects.

(i) Crippling Defects.
In November, 1929, the Authority entered into an agreement
with Queen Mary's Hospital, Stratford, in respect of a complete
scheme for the treatment of orthopaedic cases.
The treatment at the hospital includes operative, electrical
and massage treatment, remedial exercises and the supply of surgical
appliances, and is carried out under the direction of an orthopaedic
surgeon.
Eleven out-patients have received treatment during the year.
The total out-patient attendances were 75.
