Cemeteries.
The following is a list of the cemeteries in the Borough:—
City of London,
Manor Park,
Woodgrange,
Jews' Cemetery (Plashet),
Jews' Cemetery (Greatfield),
St. Mary the Virgin Churchyard,
St. Mary Magdalene Churchyard,
the total acreage being 278 acres.
No complaint was received during the year of improper
burials.
Rag Flock Act.
There are no premises in the Borough on which Rag Flock is
manufactured.
Of six samples taken from furniture upholsterers, two were
found to be satisfactory, and four contained an excess of soluble
chlorine. Upon further examination one of these was found not
to be flock within the meaning of the Act. A second contained
only a very slight excess of chlorine and no further action was
taken. In the two remaining cases of formal samples procured
one subsequently was certified as satisfactory, and legal proceedings
were instituted against the vendor of the other. The
defendant was allowed the benefit of the First Offenders Act.
Public Water Closets and Urinals.
There are 11 public conveniences in the Borough under the
supervision of the Cleansing Superintendent of the Borough
Engineer's Department. No complaint has been received during
the year and they have been well maintained in a satisfactory
condition.
There are 34 Public Houses and Beer Houses in the Borough,
the majority of which are well equipped with sanitary conveniences
and with an occasional exception these are also well maintained.
