Measles and Complications.
Seventy-nine patients were admitted during the year—in most
instances, severe or complicated cases.
Ten patients suffering from this illness remained under
treatment at the end of 1931.
Three deaths resulted from Broncho-Pneumonia, giving a
mortality rate of 2.6 per cent.
By the admission of such cases, some relief was afforded to
Whipps Cross Hospital. It must be acknowledged that the mortality
would have been considerably higher if institutional
treatment and skilled nursing had not been available.
Whooping Cough.
Twelve patients were admitted, mostly severe cases, and three
deaths resulted either from Convulsions or Broncho-Pneumonia.
Typhoid.
There were three cases of true Typhoid, one death resulting,
and two cases of Paratyphoid which recovered.
Erysipelas.
Twelve cases were under treatment during the year. No
deaths occurred.
