REPORT OF THE AURAL SURGEON.
To the School Medical Officer,
Education Committee,
County Borough of East Ham.
Sir,
I have the honour to present my third annual report on the
work done in the Aural Clinic during 1931. Eighty-six clinics
were held during the year, with a total attendance of 1,615. Sixtyone
per cent, of the cases were, after treatment, discharged cured.
An arrangement was made, and is working satisfactorily, for
the admission of children, suffering from chronic mastoid disease,
into Balaam Street Hospital for operation by me. Five cases were
treated under this arrangement during the year, and I also operated
on 234 East Ham children for the removal of enlarged Tonsils and
Adenoids.
The statistical report is as follows :—
Cases of Chronic Otitis Media | 202 | Discharged 138 |
Cases of Deafness | 32 | ,, 14 |
Other Ear Cases | 45 | ,, 39 |
Cases of Chronic Rhinitis | 66 | ,, 22 |
Other Nose Cases | 17 | ,, 7 |
Cases of Enlarged Tonsils and Adenoids | 105 | ,, 66 |
Total | 467 | Discharged 286 |
I wish to thank the medical, nursing and clerical staffs for
their very helpful co-operation.
I have the honour to be, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
RONALD SAVEGE.
