Mortuaries.
There are two mortuaries. The central mortuary at High
Street South, and the other at North Woolwich.
Both buildings are under the control of a mortuary keeper
and are kept in a satisfactory condition.
66 bodies have been admitted and 48 post-mortem examinations
held during the year.
Common Lodging Houses.
There is only one common lodging house in the Borough,
with accommodation for 42 beds, situated in Albert Road, North
Woolwich. It is regularly visited and on no occasion has it been
necessary to serve any notice or complain of nuisance.
Police Court Proceedings.

On 60 occasions it has been necessary to have recourse to legal proceedings, viz.:—

Under Public Health Acts for non-compliance with Sanitary Notice, etc.22
Under Explosives Order—dangerously exposing fireworks1
Under Shops (Early Closing) Act and Closing Orders for contraventions23
Under Gipsy Bye-Laws for failing to provide sufficient water supply11
Under Sale of Food and Drugs Act for adulterations2
Sale of Food Order—Imported meat not labelled1

Fines and costs have been imposed amounting in all to
£57. See Tables pp. 152—154.
