Collection of House Refuse.
21,241 tons of house refuse have been collected as compared
with 21,289 during; the previous year.
The collection and disposal of house refuse in recent years
has received considerable attention. The Minister of Health has
published a report showing the costs in the 80 Great Towns, some
of the figures are extraordinary, when compared with East Ham,
for example, our quantity of refuse is exactly half in weight
compared with the average of the other Great Towns, and the
cost per 1,000 of the population is £70 less.
