Ante-Natal Clinic.
An Ante-Natal Clinic is held every Friday morning at the
White House, and at this Clinic expectant mothers are advised in
matters relating to their health, primarily in regard to conditions
directly associated with pregnancy. The aim is to prevent or
remove avoidable discomfort in the later months of pregnancy, and
to render the confinement itself safer to both mother and child.
Mothers from East Ham under the care of the nurses at the
Maternity and District Nurses' Home, Plaistow, or any of its
branches, or at Queen Mary's Hospital, Stratford, attend the
Ante-Natal Clinics of their own hospitals. No cases attending
private doctors are examined at the Clinic, unless such patients
bring a letter from their doctors requesting examination.
The Health Visitors follow up the cases requiring Ante-Natal
supervision, where necessary.
