Of these, 181 were from Bermondsey; 12 from St. Olave's; 19 from St. John's; 2
drowned in river; 3 from Deptford; 2 from Camberwell; 2 from Stockholm; 2 from
Walworth; 1 from each of the following places :—East Greenwich, Durham, Brixton, North
Shields, Kingsland Road, Borough, Old Kent Road, Sunderland. Canning Town and Lincoln.
Birth Rate.
The Birth Rate per thousand per annum is 31.1.
Death Rate.
The Death Rate per thousand per annum is 18.8.
Uncertified Deaths.
Twenty deaths were uncertified. Twelve were of adults, and eight of infants. On all
these cases the Coroner stated that, in his opinion, an inquest was not necessary. In 1891
fifteen deaths were not certified. In 1892 nineteen. In 1893 seventeen. In 1894 twelve.
In 1895 eighteen. In 1896 thirteen.
