Kensington is for some local purposes divided into Wards . The subjoined Table shews the acreage of the Wards, their population as enumerated, and the number of inhabited houses in each, in 1881 and 1891:-

The Rateable Value of Property in the several Wards, at ten-year intervals, between 1851 and 1891, was as follows:-

These totals show an increase in Rateable Value, between
1851 and 1861 of 77 per cent.; between 1861 and 1871
of 130 per cent.; between 1871 and 1881 of 69 per cent.; and
between 1881 and 1891 of 26 per cent.
"These figures, received from the Census Office in April, 1892, do not correspond
exactly with those in the preliminary Report on the Census, published in
June, 1891, which form the basis of the calculations contained in the present
report. The figures in the Table, however, are more accurate, being the result of
revision of those published in the Preliminary Report.
†These figures represent the value of the hereditaments belonging to the public
companies in the Parish, which are not included in the figures given for the respective
Wards.
