Of this number, 80 males and 79 females (total 159), died in the
Hospital for Consumption, only 7 of whom were inhabitants of the
parish ; and 3 males and 13 females (total 16) died, in the Cancer
Hospital, only 1 being a parishioner : 1,317 parishioners therefore died
in the parish during the twelve months, being 97 more deaths than
occurred during the year 1859, and 219 more than in 1858. This gives
a rate of mortality of 18.78 per 1,000 per annum; the average of
London generally being for the year 21.93. About 127 persons died
in excess of what is termed a healthy ratio, viz., 17 per 1,000.
