DUSTBINS
Thirty-six new dustbins were supplied by the owners of houses
following the service of Intimation or Statutory Notices. In 31
instances it was necessary to serve formal Statutory Notices; in the
other cases new dustbins were provided following receipt of Intimation
Notices.
It was not found necessary to institute legal proceedings
against any owner to enforce compliance with a Notice.
WOODWORM AND OTHER PESTS
Many requests were received from occupiers for advice and
assistance in ridding their premises of insect pests, and altogether
358 visits were carried out in this connection by the Public Health
Inspectors. The majority of complaints was again of woodworm, and
in all 52 houses were disinfested of woodworm by the Department's
staff. A Community Centre owned by the Council was treated to clear
it of ants, and five premises were disinfested of cockroaches.
