Inquests.—There were 115 inquests held on Woolwich residents in 1938, compared
with 129 in 1937. An additional 111 deaths were certified by the coroner
after post-mortem but without inquest.
Deaths of Children, 1-5 years of age.—The number of deaths of children between
1 and 2 years of age was 7, and between 2 and 5 years, 13. In 1937 these figures
were 21 and 44. The causes of death are given in detail in Table No. 8.
