The Toddlers Examination Clinic has now become a definite part of
the scheme and the initial difficulties appear to have been overcome, as mothers
are now anxious to have their children examined. A very full report of the
working of the scheme will be found in Appendix I, where not only routine findings
but also a special report on the nervous child in its early days has been furnished
by Dr. Emslie, the Medical Officer of the Clinic.
Since my last report the following officers have left the Council's service :—
Dr. C. Isobel Wright, who joined the staff in 1927, resigned in March on
appointment as Tuberculosis Officer of the Metropolitan Borough
of Finsbury.
Mr. William Little, Sanitary Inspector, who entered the service of the
Plumstead Vestry in 1896, applied for superannuation on account of
ill-health and retired in September.
I am very grateful to the members of the Health Committees and the Council
generally, from whom I have received many kindnesses and the greatest possible
help during the year, and I take this opportunity of expressing my appreciation.
The staff have also, as usual, fulfilled in a highly satisfactory manner, the increasing
demands made upon them.
I am,
Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
J. MACMILLAN.
