Increase of Rent and Mortgage Interest (Restrictions) Acts, 1920
and 1923.β€”At the end of 1930, decisions had not been reached in the case of 24
applications (hutments) made during that year. During 1931, 10 additional
applications were received, only three of which were in respect of hutments. In
23 instances the certificate was granted, and in 9 instances the applications were
refused. One application was withdrawn, and one was still under consideration
at the end of the year. Twenty-five applications (including those under consideration
at the end of 1930) were received from owners of houses for report that
the house was in a reasonable state of repair. In 22 instances the report was
issued.
Tents and Vans.β€” By-laws regulating the use of these were made by the Council
in 1903. All tents and vans (which are few in number) were inspected regularly
and steps taken to ensure that the By-laws were being observed. The total
number of inspections made was 18.
Houses Let in Lodgings.β€” No register is now kept of Houses Let in Lodgings.
497 inspections of such houses were made, 24 offences were discovered and 19
notices served.
