One case of anthrax was notified during the year, but
the diagnosis was not confirmed.
ZYMOTIC ENTERITIS.
Eight cases of this disease were notified during the

Diarrhoea or Enteritis.
WHOOPING COUGH.
During the year, 327 cases of Whooping Cough came to
the knowledge of the Department from the School Medical

knowledge can only be obtained of cases from this source,
or, incidentally, by casual discovery by the Health Visitors
during their daily routine. Nursing assistance was provided
in one case at a cost of 13s. Od.
Deaths. The number of deaths was 22, compared with
16 in 1928, and 10 in 1927. All the deaths occurred in
children under five years of age.
MEASLES.
This disease is not notifiable in the Borough but from
various sources the department learned of 151 cases, compared
with 2,418 in the previous year.
